Gulce Celik Erdogan; opera artist,opera soloist, librettist , opera director, actress, composer and lyricist. She started her professional acting career in Ankara Folk Theater, where Erkan Yucel was the general art director. She has acted in many precious author’s plays such as : Orhan Kemal's “There was a girl whose name was Filiz”, Rıfat Ilgaz's "Hababam Class", Erkan Yucel's "Banker Tanker", Orhan Asena's "Living Death", Irfan Yalcın's "Killing the Mouse", "Plastic Lives" , Erhan Bener's "Bureaucrats". The 'Praiseworthy Actress' award was given to her by the Ankara Art Institute. She has both graduated from Hacettepe University -Social Work and Opera department. Her voice instructor was Rezan Sokmen who is also opera soloist and associate professor H.U Ankara State Conservatory. Rezan Sokmen and legendary diva Maria Callas have same voice instructor who is Elvira de Hidalgo.She was also voice instructor at the Athens conservatory of the famous opera soloist Maria Callas; Elvira De Hidalgo has also worked as a voice instructor at the Ankara State Conservatory. Gulce Celik Erdogan has learned the art of "Bel Canto" from Associate Professor Rezan Sökmen, who was a student of singing instructor Elvira De Hidalgo at the Ankara State Conservatory. After graduating from the State Conservatory Opera Department, she has started to work as an opera soloist at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. She has completed her master degree in Ankara State Conservatory Opera Department with the thesis on “Stage Directing Study on Mozart's Magic Flute Opera and Short Opera History.”By participating in the 'Masterclass' studies held at the Vienna State Conservatory, she took Mozart and opera interpretation lessons from the well-known opera soloist Ileana Cotrubas, and Baroque acting and directorial technique lessons from Ian Caddy. She had the chance to take lessons from internationally known opera soloists Suna Korad, Elisabeth Schwartzkopf and Grace Bumbry. She received a diploma from the 'International Comedy School' of Antonio Fava, one of the leading international masters of the art of 'Commedia dell'Arte' in Italy. She was accepted to the Directorship MFA program of Essex University in Great Britain and received 'Shakespeare Directorship' training. Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte” and 'Magic Flute', Gluck’s “Orpheo and Euridice”, Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana', Donşzetti’s “Don Pasquale”, Bizet’s “Carmen”, 'From Musical to Musical', 'The Poor Son of a Rich Father”, Strauss’s “Gipsy Baron”. Hacibekov’s “ Arşın Mal Alan”, "Seslenis" in Ankara State Opera and Ballet. She has interpreted the leading roles in many operas, operettas and musicals and participated in numerous concerts both in Türkiye and abroad. She took part as a soloist in the world premiere of the “Seslenis” oratorio, which was inspired by Ugur Mumcu's article which has title “Seslenis”. The project "From Musical to Musical", the text of which he wrote , researched and compiled, was performed first in Ankara State Opera and Ballet and later in Izmir State Opera and Ballet, and both productions were broadcasted by TRT. The "World Poems, World Songs" and "Opera Play" projects, of which the text was researched and compiled, were successfully staged by her. All income of the projects such as "From Musical To Musical", "Opera Play", "The World Poems, The World Songs" was donated to the Foundation of Ankara and Izmir Opera and Ballet, Ankara State Conservatory Alumni Association by Gulce Celik Erdogan. The libretto of the jazz opera “Omar Khayyam”, “Journey to the Republic with Karagoz and Hacivat”, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, the children's ballet “Puss in Boots”, the oratorio “Candan Cana Mevlana”, The symphonic poem “Ankara 1923” was written as a libretto by Gulce Celik Erdogan. Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi’s poems was translated by poet Talat Sait Halman then adapted to a libretto by her. Her working style includes research like a doctoral thesis then writing and directing. She wrote and directed two operas which is written for children : "Karagoz and Hacivat", which he wrote and directed the libretto, was awarded by the international puppet and shadow plays association UNIMA. This opera was performed by Ankara State Opera And Ballet Theatre, Samsun State Opera And Ballet Theatre, Mersin State Opera And Ballet Theatre , and at the Ordu City Youth Theatre Festival. “The Snow White And Seven Dwarves” She speaks, reads and writes in advance level English. She also speaks, reads and writes in beginning advance level in both German and Italian. She still continues her doctorate research in London,Warsaw, Vienna, Stockholm,Prague, Istanbul,Ankara, Izmir and creative art works as an opera soloist, librettist, director, composer and lyricist.
